Our Story

Ungarnished Kitchen & Catering was founded in late 2024 by Kevin Saff. After 25 years of working in professional kitchens, Kevin grew frustrated with the industry’s reliance on artificial ingredients, shortcuts, and misleading food trends.

He set out to create something different—a catering and meal prep service built on real ingredients, bold flavors, and no gimmicks.

At Ungarnished Kitchen & Catering, we take old-school Americana cuisine and refine it for modern taste buds. We cut out dextrose, high fructose corn syrup, artificial flavors, and refined sugar, focusing on wholesome, high-quality food that fuels your life.

Meet the Owner and Operator

Kevin has spent his professional career in the kitchen, working his way up from a dish pit in a local bar and grill in his hometown of Bradenton, FL. He climbed the ladder the hard way – one cut, burn, and verbal lashing at a time.

Kevin takes a “boots on the ground” approach to learning about nutrition and making healthy food taste delicious. While making kickass meals for a charter fishing lodge in Gustavus, AK, Kevin met his future wife and Ridgway resident, Jamie Nixon. She is smart, hilarious, and beautiful so he moved to Ridgway to win her heart in 2013. In 2021 Kevin and his family moved to Montrose to support Jamie in her career advancement with Alpine Bank.

Proper diet and exercise is a focal point of Kevin’s life. In 2023, Kevin completed the Imogene Pass Race with his wife in a pair of cut-off slacks from Walmart. While he dresses like he’s in his 20’s and looks like he’s in his 30’s, Kevin is actually in his 40s and credits this to prioritizing whole ingredients in everything he eats. He cooks 365 days a year, whether commercially or for his family. If he wouldn’t feed it to his wife and step-kids, he damn sure won’t feed it to his community.
